A little bit about me

I am a British author who lives in the north-east of the UK and writes psychological suspense novels. In 2016 I accepted a publishing deal with Amazon's Lake Union imprint, which has involved the republication of my first novel, His Kidnapper's Shoes. In addition, Lake Union have also published my fifth fiction title, After She's Gone. I believe this will be a very positive move for my writing career, and I am delighted to have taken this step.
In 2017 and 2018 I also signed publishing contracts for Sister, Psychopath, Guilty Innocence, The Second Captive and Deception Wears Many Faces with a different publisher. In 2019, after much thought, I decided to ask that company to return the rights for all four titles. They agreed, so from May 2019 onwards those books have been represented by my own imprint, Orelia Publishing. All four novels now have new covers, and I've also reformatted the interiors. The split is entirely amicable, and I wish my former publisher and its authors every success for the future.
Since then I've published three more novels: Silent Winter, She'll Never Tell and Heart of Bone. You can find details of all my books here: Maggie James Fiction.
Before turning my hand to writing, I worked mainly as an accountant, with a diversion into practising as a nutritional therapist. Diet and health remain high on my list of interests, along with travel. Accountancy does not, but then it never did. The urge to pack a bag and go off travelling is always lurking in the background! When not writing, going to the gym, practising yoga or travelling, I can be found seeking new four-legged friends to pet; animals are a lifelong love!
